Emergency department / Post-overdose handoff

Post-OD or ED-initiated buprenorphine: send the patient to us next-business-day.

Restoration Recovery is a CARF-accredited outpatient addiction treatment provider with four clinics across Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia. We accept ED handoffs as a routine workflow — including post-overdose patients and patients started on buprenorphine in the ED per the ASAM ED-induction protocol.

Speed

Same-week first appointment in most cases. Same-day at Chattanooga flagship Mon–Fri. Insurance verification takes ~5 minutes during the intake call.

Coverage

TennCare (BlueCare, UHC Community Plan, Wellpoint), commercial, Medicare, Tricare, GA Medicaid CMOs, self-pay. Most TennCare patients have $0 copay for MAT.

ED handoff workflow

  1. Initiate buprenorphine in the ED per your hospital's ED-induction protocol (ASAM National Practice Guideline supports this). Document the dose given.
  2. Call 423-498-2000 from the ED before discharge. Ask for the intake coordinator. Provide referring contact and patient first-name + callback number; full clinical detail follows once the patient signs a 42 CFR Part 2 release.
  3. We hold a next-business-day or same-week slot at the clinic closest to the patient. The patient walks out of the ED with an appointment time, our address, and the buprenorphine bridge prescription needed to cover the gap.
  4. Optional secure fax to 423-498-2001 with the discharge summary, ED induction dose, and 42 CFR Part 2 release for clinical continuity.
If the ED hasn't started buprenorphine: patients in active opioid withdrawal can still be referred. The intake coordinator coaches the patient on COWS timing for in-clinic Suboxone induction. Sublocade or Brixadi induction is available for fentanyl-using patients where standard induction is challenging.

What we treat

What we do NOT offer (stabilize first)

No medical detox, no PHP, no residential, no inpatient psychiatric care. Patients in active withdrawal needing medical management (alcohol seizure risk, severe benzo withdrawal) should be stabilized inpatient first — we receive the step-down handoff cleanly. We don't dispense methadone (we are OBOT, not OTP); for methadone-appropriate patients, refer via FindTreatment.gov.
